Accurate locating and management of fiber lines and critical assets such as vaults and splices can be difficult. Fiber assets are often buried and not easily located despite the presence of mapping software. The result is often extra time (and cost) for locating fiber assets for service extension, periodic maintenance, or repair.
Advances in RFID technology and mobile connectivity offer an alternative to traditional methods for locating these critical fiber assets. This session will highlight how a connected RFID solution — a system that includes mobile mapping software and RFID marking products — can reduce locating time, improve safety, and better integrate with a customer’s GIS or asset management systems.
