AFL also offers a wide variety of services supporting data center, enterprise, wireless and outside plant applications.
Presented by Kara Mullaley, Global FTTx Marketing Manager, Corning
RocketRibbon provides industry leading density providing twice the fiber count in the approximately the same footprint of existing central tube and stranded ribbon tube design cables. In this demonstration, learn how easy it is to access the fibers in this completely new subunit design, making cable handling and installation easy in closures like the 3M Fiber Optic Splice Closure 2178-XL. This high-density splice case is well-suited for ribbon cable and has a maximum splice capacity of 3456.
Kara Mullaley has 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, primarily supporting major network operators in the deployment of broadband networks worldwide. She is a subject matter expert on best practices for fiber deployment, architecture, and solutions to address tough deployment challenges, including meeting today’s rising bandwidth and application demands. She has delivered technical sessions at various FTTx conferences and has also been published in several trade publications. Based in Hickory, North Carolina, Kara graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Virginia Tech.
Corning is one of the world’s leading innovators in materials science, with a 166-year track record of life-changing inventions. We apply unparalleled expertise in glass science, ceramic science, and optical physics along with our deep manufacturing and engineering capabilities to develop category-defining products that transform industries and enhance people’s lives. Our Optical Communications segment delivers fiber to the people and businesses (and, increasingly, “things”) at every edge of the network, from optical fiber, cable, hardware and equipment to fully-optimized solutions for high-speed communications networks.
For services that lead to the customer premises and those inside the home, such as fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) or xDSL speed including Gfast, network testing is vital, at all stages of deployment. To deliver the best residential services, operators need to detect and locate hidden faults and infrastructure problems quickly, assess wi-fi performance and guarantee customers get the speed they are paying for. During this demo zone session, attendees will get an overview of best practices for residential broadband services testing as well as a demonstration of EXFO’s offering in this field, including:
- EX1, industry’s first pocket-sized app-enabled Gigabit & Wi-Fi test solution
- MaxTester-635G, a copper, xDSL and Gfast (BBF Certified) test set that supports Ookla Speedtest™, IPTV, and VoIP Testing
- ConnectorMax fiber inspection probe series
- PON-aware™ power meter on the market for legacy and next-generation PON networks.
EXFO develops smarter network test, monitoring and analytics solutions for the world’s leading communications service providers, network equipment manufacturers and web-scale companies. Since 1985, we have worked side by side with our clients in the lab, field, data center, boardroom and beyond to pioneer essential technology and methods for each phase of the network lifecycle. Our portfolio of test orchestration and real-time 3D analytics solutions turn complex into simple and deliver business-critical insights from the network, service and subscriber dimensions. Most importantly, we help our clients flourish in a rapidly transforming industry where “good enough” testing and data analytics just isn’t good enough anymore—it never was for us, anyway.
